The Committee on Educational Development (CED) designs neuroscience curricula for high school students and coordinates with high school science teachers and student (undergraduate and graduate) volunteers to teach in local public and charter high schools (including University of Chicago-Woodlawn) and through Cascade (another UChicago teaching RSO). The committee designs 5-lesson curricula (called the School Science Curriculum), which are taught over the course of 5 weeks and include interactive activities (like the cockroach spikerbox). The committee also plans to create stand alone lessons, as well. Lesson plan development offers club members an opportunity to learn about neuroscience, gain teaching experience, and motivate younger scientists.
